Wyss Associates, Inc., was retained by the City of Omaha for assistance in a full-scale analysis of Omaha’s eight public golf course operations. The process included Omaha Parks and Recreation employees from all levels to gather the base information and establish priorities.
Wyss Associates, Inc. conducted hole by hole analysis of each course followed by a course by course analysis and then assisted the staff in compiling the base data and completed the cost estimates, the site observations expanded upon the information presented by the course condition surveys completed by city employees. The analysis resulted in the city adopting a Two Year Golf Plan, in which all profits made from golf would be reinvested the eight courses.
Numerous projects have been completed in the years since the study was completed including:
- New greens, tees and irrigation system at Elmwood Park Golf Course
- New clubhouses at Fontenelle Park and Miller Park Golf Courses
- Bunker rehabilitation at Applewood and Benson Park Golf Courses
