Who wouldn’t want to spend some time on one of the two large patios located on the second floor of the new Security First Bank Headquarters building?

Wyss Associates designed the 2nd level green roof patios to not only engage the public at these busy intersections in both directions but also give users an opportunity to enjoy views from the north and south. This flexible workspace and break area includes seating groups for conversations and eating. We utilized raised planter boxes containing trees and native grasses and live planting beds that create a complete and sustainable green roof. Synthetic turf was used to expand the patio area and soften the space. The green roof is designed to reduce building energy demand by up to 20%. The main level features a covered patio with limited seating for smaller gatherings.

The balance of the site has a mix of plantings representing the Black Hills flora and fauna.
