BLACK HILLS NATIONAL VETERANS CEMETERY

Wyss Associates, Inc. served as the prime consultant for the renovations of the cemetery administration and maintenance buildings and the expansion of crypt burial area. As prime consultant, Wyss Associates was responsible for all project coordination from conceptual design through construction. Our office also acted as the landscape architect on the project. The multi-million dollar project included the development of new burial areas, expansion of existing building facilities, new buildings, revised circulation design, landscape enhancements, a new water feature and several other amenities. All of the new buildings and site features needed to be blended into the historic context of the cemetery as well as the Black Hills landscape. This was accomplished through the use of historically appropriate building materials, railings, pavers, and indigenous plants that are native to the surrounding Black Hills environment.
