Wyss Associates, Inc. is excited to announce Summer Construction for the Rapid City 2012 project - He' Sapa Black Hills Center for Northern Plains Tribal Arts and Performance (formerly referred to as the Rapid City Powwow Gardens and Indian Art Market). From the site selection study to preliminary concept development, from project advocacy to design development, Wyss Associates, Inc. has been working with the Alliance of Tribal Tourism Advocates and the City of Rapid City to develop a ground breaking project that connects the reservation to the city. He' Sapa provides a new regional tourism destination, a hub for tribal cultural arts and performance that will provide avenues for global tourists to explore the rich regional history of the plains Indian through events, tours, living history, arts and human to human interaction. The amphitheater, art market and living history village provide a framework to allow the rich and dynamic program elements that ATTA has planned for the site.

Look for:

• A unique amphitheater, designed to be comfortable for 10, 100, 500 or 1,000s of people and to host individual performances, storytelling, music and full Powwows.
• A vibrant art market with custom vendor booths designed to provide the amenities artists, craftspeople, food sellers and other vendors need within a vibrant and active market setting.
• A Living history village where storytelling, crafts, native dress, native foods, plants and performance will enliven the visitor experience with personal interaction.
• An active and sunny urban plaza for staging visitor groups, informal interactions with staff and entering. An active and changing sculpture garden, integrated throughout the site into all of the design elements.
